Highway Named For Legislator
A portion of a major highway in the Pee Dee is now named in honor of Representative Douglas Jennings of Marlboro County.
Legislators, friends and family gathered at The Skye in Bennettsville for the unveiling ceremony. Representative Jennings has served in the South Carolina House for more than 20 years.
But this year, he decided not to seek re-election. Highway 38 from Highway 15-401 in Bennettsville to the Town of Blenheim is now named in his honor.
“I’m honored as I look out in the crowd and see so many wonderful friends, people I’ve had the chance to work with. People who’ve taken time out of your schedules to be here today. It touches me that you did,” said Representative Jennings, Marlboro/Chesterfield counties.
The SC Department of Transportation named the road after Jennings because of his role in improving transportation across the state.
